WHAT IS Positive Behavior Support?
Positive Behavior Support (PBS) gives people a new way to think about behavior. PBS is based on understanding why problem behaviors occur – the behavior’s function.
The PBS process results in the creation of effective intervention plans that will impede problem behaviors, teach new skills, and create support systems for the student.
PBS methods are research-based and proven to significantly reduce the occurrence of problem behaviors in the school, resulting in a more positive school climate and increased academic performance (State of Florida Department of Education 2002).
Is your student acting like a CRANE?
C-Courteous Knowing what manners are and using them in all situations
R-Responsible Being honest, trustworthy and reliable
A-Attentive Not only paying attention to the lesson but also being observant at all times
N-Noble Putting others before yourself
E-Exemplary Giving everything you do your best effort
Students are rewarded consistently throughout the year for their CRANE-like behavior!
This year Sandhill Elementary has chosen to acknowledge students by using Brag Tags and a choice for rewards. There are many different Brag Tags that students can earn and many different rewards to choose from!
We also have implemented the Sandhill Superstar Card. The Sandhill Superstars are chosen by the classroom teacher daily, and are given to students displaying academic growth, improvement and performance in any area.
